De desillusies van de psychoanalyse: Is er hoop?

Marc Hebbrecht

Summary

The Disillusions of Psychoanalysis: Is There Any Hope?

Disillusions of psychoanalysts and psychoanalytic therapists are reviewed from the psychoanalytic literature. First, the psychoanalytic treatment of Marilyn Monroe by Ralph Greenson is discussed. Next there is a concise summary of the viewpoints of Freud, Bion, Winnicott, Kohut and Lacan on the topic of illusion and disillusion, followed by referrals to contemporary authors like John Steiner and Lucy LaFarge. Summaries of clinical experiences with disappointing patients are summarized, based on André Green, Illusions and Disillusions of Psychoanalytic Work (2011). Finally there is a discussion of analytic failures inspired by the work of Goldberg and some personal reflections on this problem.

Key words: analytic failure, disillusion, illusion, impasse
