Pápa

Dear Professor,

This time only a few lines in haste, especially to thank you for your kind letter—and to ask you to please address everything to me in the barracks (Barracks of the 7th Honvéd Hussar Regiment, Pápa).

I was in Budapest over Sunday; Ignotus accompanied me to Pápa and stayed here for a day. He wants to try everything to bring about my transfer to Budapest. I had difficulties in finding housing [Wohnungsschwierigkeiten] (I wanted to write “smeariness” [Schmierigkeiten]), so I didn't get to work. Maybe I'll begin starting now!

I was already heartened by the possibility of your coming. Already on the second day of my presence here the name “Freud” appeared on the guest list of the Hotel “Griff.” I run to room 10—immediately recognize your little handbag, and went looking for you. The porter then enlightened me about my error.2

Kind regards,

Ferenczi
