Sigmund Freud

[Karlsbad,] July 27, 1915

Dear friend,

Your long-awaited comments about the phylogenetic series were very welcome and put the matter in a further state of flux. But I won't respond to them immediately but rather to your new project, which you consider urgent.

My advice is to pursue it as rapidly as possible with all the means at your disposal, since it will bring more than one advantage. Not only will it loosen your moorings from Pápa and get you a secure position in Budapest, [but] it also seems valuable to me in that it opens up a new field of work to you, which can be worked in from the perspective of ΨA; and it can have a very good preparatory effect for your docentship, which ought not to be given up. I don't consider it a strong objection that you will take on too much.
