Dear Professor,

Today I am am writing only to ameliorate somewhat the mood into which the death of my friend Schächter put me.1 After my natural father, he was actually the one whom I loved and revered as a model. He was an Old Testament character, also a fighter by nature, very conservative and religious. Despite the fact that in our most recent relations we were never able to see eye to eye, I took his being as a model for myself for a rather long time.
