Dear Professor!

In the ticket agency I learned of the following possibilities:

I.

Dep Vienna Ostbahnhof local sleeping car 9:20 P.M.
Arr Budapest Ostbahnhof     7 A.M.
Dep Budapest Ostbahnhof express   9:20 A.M.
(In service only from 16th of this month on)
Arr Poprádfelka     5:12 P.M.
Dep Poprádfelka (local)   6:32 P.M.
Arr Csorba     7:06
From there cog railway to Csorbató.

II.

Dep Vienna Ostbahnhof express 8:30 A.M.
Arr Budapest Ostbahnhof   1:40 P.M.
Dep Budapest Ostbahnhof local 6:30 P.M.
  sleeping car to Poprádfelka
Arr Poprádfelka   7:30 A.M.
Arr Csorba   8:10 A.M.
  From Csorba cog railway.
[The sleeping car vouchers are said to be sold out from June 25 to July 7, but your brother Alexander can perhaps work something out here.]1

III.

Dep Vienna express 4:50 P.M.
Arr Galánta   6:46 P.M.
Dep Galánta express 8:17 P.M.
Arr Zsolna   11:55 P.M.
Dep Zsolna (local) 4:12 A.M.
Arr Csorba   8:07 A.M.
  —Cog railway.

So the I. modality is relatively comfortable, if you can get sleeping vouchers. The II. is wearisome, especially if you don't have any sleeping car vouchers. The III. requires changing trains three times and overnight wait (which, however, late arrival will shorten); instead, travel time is a few hours shorter. In cases I. and II.
