Dear Professor,

It was my intention, even in the event that we spend our vacation in Hungary, to go to Vienna for a few days in order to be together with you after such a long time. Unfortunately, I didn't succeed in getting the Hungarian passport. The exit prohibition is valid only for Austria; the journey to Holland by way of Czechoslovakia-Germany is permitted to me. In any case (namely, in case of a possible intervening hindrance), I asked Jones by letter if he would have an official letter written to the English High Commissioner in Budapest in the interest of my Congress trip. I will also send a similar letter to Ophuijsen, through whom I expect permission to enter Holland.—The exact discussion about our meeting in The Hague (date, place, etc.) must therefore be left out this time. Instead I must ask you to instruct me as precisely as possible about the plans you have made so that I can adjust myself accordingly.—

In consequence of the travel difficulties mentioned, I lengthened my stay in Budapest until August 1.
