Dear friend,

I thank you kindly and may certainly ask you also to give my thanks to the Society, which has no other address. Likewise to Frau Gisela and Frau Elma. One should not venture to draw any conclusions about the intimacy of our relations from the intensity of our intercourse.

Eitingon was here for a few days and unveiled the bust by Königsberger,1 which now, as a ghostly threatening bronze doppelgänger, is awaiting definitive exhibition in some nook or cranny in the house. Its resemblance [to me] is being judged in various ways; there is no doubt about its artistic worth. Naturally, I was taken in; I really thought Eitingon wanted to have it for himself, otherwise I wouldn't have sat for it last year.

I am now terribly old, and notice that one generally also accepts this as such.
