Tip: To use Evernote for note taking…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

Evernote is a general note taking application that integrates with your browser. You can use it to save entire articles, bookmark articles, take notes, and more. It comes in both a free version which has limited synchronization capabilities, and also a subscription version, which raises that limit. You can download Evernote for your computer here. It can be used online, and there’s an app for it as well.

Some of the things you can do with Evernote:

  • Save search-result lists
  • Save complete articles
  • Save bookmarks to articles

Sándor Ferenczi

Budapest, January 30, 1924

Dear Professor,

Your letter has shaken me considerably. For the first time since our acquaintance, which you soon elevated to friendship, I hear words of dissatisfaction from you. I didn't want to respond in the first affect, therefore I postponed this letter until today.

Since I had no news from Rank which would have informed me of your critical discussions, and since I heard only words of assent from you in Berlin, Lavarone, several times in Vienna, your statement to the effect that you were not in agreement with everything in the joint work caught me completely by surprise. I and, as I know for certain, also Rank were, at the outset in composing the work, striving to avoid everything with which you might not agree, which we succeeded in doing more easily by virtue of the fact that we did not deviate from psychoanalytic ground by a hair's breadth. As a precaution we read to you the first (still rough) draft aloud in Berlin, in order to be sure of your assent (in general).
