Sigmund Freud

Dear friend,

I know you are eagerly corresponding with Rank, and I have missed your direct letters for a long time already, so I am hastening to reply to today's.

My trust in you and Rank is unqualified. It would be sad if, after one has lived together for fifteen to seventeen years, one could still find oneself deceived. But you are attaching too much importance to the fact that I agree with you in all material particulars, and Rank is terribly uncouth, pits people against him, does not behave with the cheerful superiority which would serve him so well, as the one who is nearest to me in so many respects.
