Sándor Ferenczi

Budapest, October 23, 1924

Dear Professor,

My telegram was intended only to leave open the possibility of having a discussion immediately after Rank's arrival (so, before the established date, October 31). After receipt of your reply by telegram,1 I refrained from informing Eitingon about Rank's telegram, so things stand with the former date. In any event, however, I will come to an understanding with Eitingon.

In the meantime, I also received a letter from Rank, which I sent to Eitingon. In it he hardly talks about scientific differences anymore, but about personal (bad) treatment on your part. Obviously projection. I did not respond meritoriously.

Since we will soon see each other personally and can confer about everything orally, I will refrain from discussing the situation, which is on the whole unchanged, in more detail. Abraham seems to suspect something; at least, he wrote me about [his] being concerned about the Viennese relations.

Kind regards,

Ferenczi
