Dear Professor,

Of course I sent off Brill's letter with an accompanying note to Abraham immediately after receipt. At the same time, I wrote to Brill in detail and informed him exactly about my personal and scientific position with regard to Rank. I told him that I most strongly disapproved of his personal behavior in America and also, since his American adventure, toward you; that I was not informed about his technique, and, according to what he (Brill) writes, I also judge his method of treament; in addition to that, I held out the prospect of publishing this position at the next opportunity.
