Tip: To use OneNote for note taking…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

You can use Microsoft OneNote to take notes on PEP-Web. OneNote has some very nice and flexible note taking capabilities.

You can take free form notes, you can copy fragments using the clipboard and paste to One Note, and Print to OneNote using the Print to One Note printer driver. Capture from PEP-Web is somewhat limited.

For the complete list of tips, see PEP-Web Tips on the PEP-Web support page.

[Rundbrief]1
Budapest, February 19, 1925

Dear friends,

I ask you to excuse the four days' delay.2 It does, to be sure, (unjustly) put me in a position already now to go into the extremely interesting question of thought transference.3 As Herr Professor knows, this problem has been occupying me for many years. I have brought together a large number of positive cases and successful experiments that I have done myself, which in part remind one of those of Prof. Murray. It would be high time for us to come to grips with this problem. As is well known, Myers4 has already attempted to explain telepathy with the aid of the unconscious. My own cases are not only of significance as confirmation of the actuality of thought transference, but also as a kind of objective proof of the modes of operation of the ucs. presupposed by psychoanalysis, in particular, of symbolism. I hope to be able to speak with Herr Professor soon about this subject, and I ask him if he would please save for me the issue in question of “Psychical Researches.” (I only read a review in the Manchester Guardian.) Too bad that the Harz secret essay cannot be published. Perhaps a somewhat abbreviated communication can be published, or the permission of those concerned can be obtained. I already wanted to begin with a paper about the relationship of psychoanalysis to telepathy in the first volume of the “Zeitschrift.” In the meantime, much has been written about it by outsiders;5 the English and American “Psychical Research” circles have also tried (with little luck up to now) to utilize psychoanalysis for their own purposes.
