Dear friend,

This Indian letter with valuable enclosure arrived here today, intended for you. Let's hope the poor boy didn't flip under the influence of alcohol and a bad woman.

Inhibitions, Anxiety, and Symptoms1 will be sent off to you today by the Verlag.

My health has suffered a new disturbance today through stupid attacks on the street along the lines of stenocardia. The internist, Ludwig Braun, wants to treat me for myocardia and make me lie down and rest for two weeks;2 this time I am more optimistic, diagnose an intolerance to smoking, and continue to resist—successfully, up to now. I really have heart ailments for a long time after every de-nicotinized cigar, and—a bad sign—abstinence is not at all difficult for me. State of health otherwise undisturbed.3

Kind regards to you and Frau G.

Yours,

Freud
