Dear friend,

Thank you for your detailed reports, with the pertinent judgments about persons and conditions strewn in. Your letter is certainly already quite American, in the lack of details about your own state of well-being and other trivialities. There is no doubt that you will exert a very beneficial effect; palpable results probably can't be achieved at all. We are now eager to know when you will come again. Anna has suggested to Eitingon that the + + + question of lay analysis should not be negotiated at the Congress, but at a special meeting beforehand, to which each of the groups that can be reached will send three representatives. Eitingon will write more to you about it. This discussion cannot take place without your being there.

Eitingon was here on his regular inspection trip; he left—unfortunately with a fever—yesterday. He was as reassuring as ever; affairs are in good hands with him. Not that everything is that good otherwise. Lay analysis is also making people everywhere rebellious.
