Sigmund Freud

Semmering, August 2, 1927

Dear friend,

I found Eitingon unchanged in his decision to hand over the presidency to you, if it can be put through, but this time he is also prepared to take it on himself, if there is too strong opposition to you. It has not become clear to me whether he means Jones or the Americans. In any case, you should work with him without restraint. I find you more reserved than you were before America. Damned country!

You have become acquainted with the parents of my patient Liebman. They are now in Germany, and I have advised them to look you up once more. When you come, have a look at my last letter to Frau Liebman. The highly intelligent boy is developing his paranoia more and more clearly, and I am harboring reservations about bearing the responsibility for him longer. I have struggled with him a great deal; it seemed to have a good chance for a while.

I greet you and Frau G.

Cordially,

Freud

P.S. Give my kind regards to the Groddecks as well. He should cease the agitation in the Ark for my Nobel Prize. It doesn't suit me.
