Dear friend,

I received today the American translation of Lay Analysis and Autobiographical Study and must thank you in a few words for the beautiful introduction1 that you wrote for it.2 It honors you yourself no less than me. Since 1909 we have covered a nice piece of trail with each other, always hand in hand, and it won't be any different for the short stretch that still remains to be trod.

Cordially,

Freud
