Sigmund Freud

Semmering, July 11, 1928

Dear friend,

The presence of Dr. Burlingham in the house next door promises us a visit from you over a weekend. He still wants to visit you and Amsden in Budapest, and this letter of mine is hurrying in advance of him.

After the breakup of the analysis with Reik, I have begun to concern myself with Dorothy Burlingham, in consideration of the new situation created by the arrival of her husband. I am beginning to get my bearings with her, but I don't know if I will set something up in these two months. The situation between both of them is difficult, [and] can be the source of bad developments. As long as Anna and I stand in between, probably nothing will happen. Dr. Amsden should make some provisions for September, when we will both be in Berlin.

Things are not going badly at present, but the two of them are also not getting any further with each other.
