Dear Professor,

Instead of the usual New Year's letter I am making do this time with a congratulatory telegram.2 I don't have much to add to it. We are all happy along with you about the unexpectedly favorable outcome of the Berlin prosthesis correction. Everyone who saw you, lastly, Dr. Lehrmann, were saying miraculous things about the improvement in the subjective and objective state of your health and spirit.

I can't produce anything comparable, but I also don't have all too much to complain about lately. I am, to be sure, limiting my activity to the seven to eight hours of work with pupils and patients.
