Dear Professor,

Of course I know only too well that the function of the dream which was emphasized by me is the same one that you described and explained in “Beyond the Pleasure Principle”as being characteristic of the dreams of traumatics. But my experiences press me to emphasize this point of view more strongly than is the case in your “Interpretation of Dreams.”In other words: I would like to generalize somewhat the point of view of mastery of trauma in sleep and dream.

Enclosed a letter from Eitingon2 and the copy of my reply to it.

I am very pleased that you feel so well in Pötzleinsdorf. Too bad you didn't already begin earlier to be a great gentleman and a rich man. We, too, are staying in the country and are feeding ourselves properly,3 up to the Congress. My vacation begins on October 1, not known yet where.

Give our regards to all the members of the family in and around the Khevenhüllerstrasse.

Yours,

Ferenczi
