Sigmund Freud

Vienna, August 24, 1932
IX., Berggasse 19

Dear friend,

I regretted your refusal in the interests of all who are involved. Your argument doesn't make much sense to me. As long as the technical and theoretical changes that have recommended themselves to you are not earth-shaking enough to necessitate your founding a new variety of analysis, you don't need to avoid the presidency in the old formation. But, far be it from me to try to influence [you]. You have to know best yourself what is going on in you.

Kind regards,

Freud
