Dear Wilhelm,

You are, of course, the sender of the Tag [Day]?1 After the Zeit [Time] and the Tag, I am now hoping for the Woche [Week]. The reviewer, incidentally, is a man who knows how to spin out a simile and give it a twist. I was very surprised because not a single newspaper, much less a scientific periodical, has paid any attention to the year-and-a-half-old book since the reviews you are familiar with were published. Does this mean that perhaps its “day” has come? The experience you had with the Deutsche Rundschau really put me in a very resigned mood.2

We are having a cold spring. Mathilde and Sophie still are rather miserable; the others are again lively and better than before. Minna will go to Edlach for hydrotherapy at the beginning of April to speed her recovery.
