[Alphonse Maeder to Freud]

Dear Professor,

A few days ago Dr. St.1 of Vienna turned up here. He was staying at Interlaken with his wife and, feeling bad, came here unannounced. He intends staying a few weeks in order to build up his physical strength, wants to tone himself up. I started with an arsenic preparation (cacodylat. Natr.)2 and he also took electric baths3> (with delight even), works a bit in the garden and goes to the gym. He arrived here with signs of a slight disapproval of any psychic treatment, says he is not sure.
