Verf. bespricht die Beziehungen zwischen den organischen und funktionellen Nervenkrankheiten; er stellt sich speziell auf den Standpunkt der Diagnostik. Die Diagnose der funktionellen Störung wird zu häufig aus rein negativen Gründen (Fehlen von positiven Zeichen einer organischen Erkrankung, z. B. negativer Babinski); die Symptomatologie der Neurosen und Psychosen ist den Ärzten zu wenig bekannt. Jones empfiehlt die Freud ‘sche. Einteilung der Aktualneurosen und der Psychoneurosen.
