Anna Freud Doctoral Award Addresses

Dr. Floyd S. Cornelison:

In beginning our program this evening I thought it might be appropriate to read some of the messages which were received today, so that all of us might share the feelings and sentiment of those who were not able to be with us at commencement exercises this morning or here this evening.

First, one from Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Ritvo to Miss Freud: "Congratulations to you and Jefferson Medical College. Best wishes."

And a long letter from Dr. Lawrence S. Kubie, expressing his regrets at not being here, wishing Miss Freud the happiest occasion on this day, and sending congratulations to her for the honor which she has received.

A telegram from Dr. Maxwell Gitelson: "Deeply regret inability to be present for this important occasion. Please extend congratulations to Miss Freud and accept for yourself and colleagues my appreciation of the noble step taken by Jefferson Medical College in giving academic recognition to so significant a representative of psychoanalysis. Maxwell Gitelson, President, International Psycho-Analytical Association."

Another very personal one: "Warmest greetings Anna Freud, hosts and guests assembled in her honor. Oliver and Henny Freud."
