Narcissistic States and the Therapeutic Process: By Sheldon Bach. North Vale, N.J.: Aronson, 1985, 253 pp., $25.00.

Review by:
Arnold I. Goldberg, M.D.

Dr. Bach's face beams out at us from the cover of this book, and one is not disappointed in this warm and friendly countenance having a corresponding clinical appeal. This book is filled with clinical vignettes, and the author proves himself to be a sensitive and astute clinician and teacher. His written effort is directed to fostering a "treatment attitude" which will allow for the use of psychoanalysis in the effective amelioration of all manner of narcissistic disorders, and there is little doubt of his success in this endeavor.
