Circumstances similar to those encountered in other analytic milieus have forced the Institute of the Mexican Psychoanalytic Association to enter into the current debate regarding the pros and cons of concentrated (or condensed) analysis (Hutto 1998).

Although Mexico is a relatively large country, in terms of both territory and population, most of its political, economic, and intellectual activities have traditionally evolved within the confines of its enormous capital city.
