Arnold Goldberg

I hope that Alan Bass, the author of this intriguing book, will not be too displeased with me. I suspect that he will, but he may be hard pressed to defend his displeasure, because his preface alerts us to his “significant omissions” of the literature relevant to the “clinical problem” he sets himself, especially the work “of Bion and Lacan” (p. vii). Now this author has every right to forge ahead with his concern with the problem he calls “resistance to interpretation” and to formulate a solution to it.
