Books/LECTURES

And so Farewell…

Review by:
Sarah Usher

Twenty years ago, when Doug Frayn asked me to take over the position of English-language book review editor for this esteemed journal, I was surprised. Doug assumed that because I had been an editor and copywriter for two known book publishers in the city, I could do the job easily. But until I started working with Ian MacKenzie, I didn't know how important it was to translate difficult and complex prose into clear writing—particularly when one is editing a book review on Lacan.

This is an enviable position: one not only hears about all the good stuff as soon as it's published but also gets to meet and banter with the most congenial analysts. I thank the reviewers for their hard and thoughtful work and their flexibility. It is with a mix of sadness and relief that I hand over my red pencil to Les Fleischer. He brings a strong academic background as well as experience in publishing in this journal.
