Tip: To sort articles by year…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

After you perform a search, you can sort the articles by Year. This will rearrange the results of your search chronologically, displaying the earliest published articles first. This feature is useful to trace the development of a specific psychoanalytic concept through time.

For the complete list of tips, see PEP-Web Tips on the PEP-Web support page.

The Visit

Tom Richardson, Ph.D.

Watching you try to screw on

The bottle cap of your Coke

Or even trying to drink the last

Of it, shaking and fluttering

George, I am pulling up your pajamas

So your diaper doesn't show.

A six-foot man, 126 pounds

Plowing the floor with your walker,

Your soft eyes resting in mine.

A schoolgirl working reception

Plays solitaire on her monitor.

A bent over woman in a wheelchair,

Collapses into her own lap,

Cries out Please!

Please talk to me.

Beside the Platte River three mallards

Just flew over,

A young black vixen

Hunting in the tall grasses.

The air filled with cottonwood seeds,

Each with its own parachute.

A fierce force in you, George,

To get up, to walk.

You are not finished yet.
