Changing Together: A Response to James L. Fosshage and Sandra G. Hershberg

My response to Fosshage's and Hershberg's discussions of my clinical presentation highlights my gratitude to them for allowing me to feel seen and validated. In responding to Fosshage's theoretical article, I emphasize the systemic emergent action and developmental tendency of the therapeutic situation. I claim that a contextualist systems sensibility offers me a paradoxical and often hard-won experience of freedom.
