Tip: To use Pocket to save bookmarks to PEP-Web articles…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

Pocket (formerly “Read-it-later”) is an excellent third-party plugin to browsers for saving bookmarks to PEP-Web pages, and categorizing them with tags.

To save a bookmark to a PEP-Web Article:

  • Use the plugin to “Save to Pocket”
  • The article referential information is stored in Pocket, but not the content. Basically, it is a Bookmark only system.
  • You can add tags to categorize the bookmark to the article or book section.

Otto Fenichel

Gabriele Gschwendtner

DEAR EDITOR,

I would be very happy if you could publish this letter:

I am studying psychology at the University of Salzburg/Austria. To finish my studies I am working on a dissertation about the Austrian psychoanalyst Otto Fenichel. He had to emigrate from the Nazis in 1938 and went to Los Angeles. There he died in 1947.

The difficulty for me is, that a lot of information—especially for the biography of Otto Fenichel—is hard to find because of the destruction of documents and archives, done by the Nazis. There is no estate of this important psychoanalytic theorist existing; what he left behind is dispersed between his relatives, friends, coworkers and pupils.

I am sure, that there is a lot of unpublished information especially in the hands of analysts from the USA, for example letters or some private reminiscences. For the owner of this document they might look insignificant, but for my work they could be an important stone in the mosaic. It would be a pity if this kind of information never gets published. So I ask the reader of this letter who feels pleased, to contact me.

Thank
