PEP-Web Tip of the Day

When you hover your mouse over a paragraph of the Standard Edition (SE) long enough, the corresponding text from Gesammelte Werke slides from the bottom of the PEP-Web window, and vice versa.

If the slide up window bothers you, you can turn it off by checking the box “Turn off Translations” in the slide-up. But if you’ve turned it off, how do you turn it back on? The option to turn off the translations only is effective for the current session (it uses a stored cookie in your browser). So the easiest way to turn it back on again is to close your browser (all open windows), and reopen it.

Review by:
Gordon Harris

In this paper the writer aims to demonstrate that the alchemical processes that Jung viewed in metaphorical and psychodynamic terms are in fact actual experiences that create a new psychological energetic field which he terms the meditation complex. He takes as his starting point Jung's psychological commentary on The Secret of the Golden Flower, the ninth-century Taoist text describing the process of meditation in alchemical terms. Jung was slow to appreciate the alchemical nature of this text, as he himself acknowledged. Odajnyk maintains that the meditation aspect of the book is of equal importance, and that the alchemical imagery refers to psychological and spiritual processes that take place during meditation.
