Tip: To use Pocket to save bookmarks to PEP-Web articles…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

Pocket (formerly “Read-it-later”) is an excellent third-party plugin to browsers for saving bookmarks to PEP-Web pages, and categorizing them with tags.

To save a bookmark to a PEP-Web Article:

  • Use the plugin to “Save to Pocket”
  • The article referential information is stored in Pocket, but not the content. Basically, it is a Bookmark only system.
  • You can add tags to categorize the bookmark to the article or book section.

For the complete list of tips, see PEP-Web Tips on the PEP-Web support page.

Martine Gallard

It is most interesting that François Martin-Vallas introduced the Freudian concept of ‘hallucinatory wish fulfilment’ in connection with the baby's activity. Indeed, this is perhaps the baby's first subjective response, by which he tries to figure out what he needs, what would relieve his feelings of hunger, of abandonment etc … which cause him pain. In this way he escapes from the compelling determinism of the first instinctive archetype which is the organisational basis of his actual experience and behaviour.

What François suggests is that fundamentally the introduction of desire, of a personal and creative response perverts the archaic determinism of the instinct. This is interesting as well as paradoxical! He has widened the way in which perversion is usually perceived and the always negative vision it engenders. This obliges us to modify our concept of the phenomena of perversion, and, if we go along with him, to regard them as attempts at humanization, undoubtedly failed attempts, but humanization nevertheless. Martin-Vallas has obviously thought a lot about this and his paper continues the dialogue started in his article in No. 112 of the Cahiers jungiens de psychanalyse, ‘Réponse a Claude Ballier: une approche jungienne de la perversion’.

Furthermore I would like to reconsider the concept of representation and its link with energy. I thought of James Hillman's talk earlier: ‘The Azure Vault: the Caelum as Experience’ and I asked myself what relevance it could-well have with the ideas Martin-Vallas advances.
