The SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PSYCHOANALYTIC SOCIETY announces an essay contest to honor the memory of its member, Dr. Walter Briehl, pioneer psychoanalyst and champion of civil and human rights. An award of $1,000.00 will be presented to the individual who submits the best essay utilizing psychoanalytic thinking to deepen the understanding of issues of significance to human rights. The winning essay will be presented by the author at a meeting entitled "The Violation of Human Rights: The Quest for Understanding," which will be held September 22-23, 1984, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills, California. Deadline for submission of papers is May 15, 1984.
