A Text Book of Clinical Neurology. By Israel S. Wechsler, M.D. Published by W. B. Saunders Company, Philadelphia, 1932. (Second Edition Revised.) Pp. 759. Price $7.00.

This text book of neurology is rapidly becoming a standard work. The present second edition indicates the continued demand and the desirability of revision. This edition contains considerable new matter, added illustrations, and some variations in classification, where the author departs from the Oppenheim scheme which he had previously employed. The book is well illustrated, well printed and clearly written and ought to find a very considerable field of usefulness. It is a refreshing thing to see in a work on clinical neurology an excellent discussion of the neuroses from the Freudian and psychoanalytic point of view. It indicates that some of the most orthodox strongholds which have held out against the innovations in this direction are gradually finding themselves forced to abandon their old opinions and let in the new light. Dr. Wechsler characteristically is one of the younger generation who had not become so imbued with the prejudices of his immediate neurological ancestors but that he could steer a judicial course in this very complex field.
