Two books on neuropathology—a subject which has not produced many books in recent years in this country—both written by highly qualified men. The approach differs naturally somewhat in the two instances. In Weil's book there is emphasis upon various changes produced postmortem and by fixation, the microscopic elements are considered separately, and the various disease processes are considered under such headings as Anemic Softening, Infections, Intoxications, Degenerative Diseases, etc. There is an appendix which deals with autopsy technique and staining methods.

Freeman's work is somewhat similar, to be sure, but is more inclined to take up the various diseases under such chapter headings as tuberculosis, syphilis, leprosy, and the system diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. There is a chapter on Functional Psychoses, Senile Dementia, and Epilepsy, and the book closes with a glossary.

Both books are valuable contributions to our literature of the subject and are of convenient size and arrangement for textbooks.
