Clark, Le Mon. Emotional Adjustment in Marriage. St. Louis, Mo.: The C. V. Mosby Co.

Before taking his degree in medicine Dr. Clark was instructor and associate professor of Economics at Cornell and Colgate. Studies in the social sciences served to stress in his mind the basic importance of problems of population, birth control, and sex education. It was along this road that he finally entered medical training. He is at present an assistant in obstetrics and gynecology on the staff of the University of Illinois School of Medicine.

The present book is a useful and very competent account of the physiological-psychical basis of marital relations. The aim is to increase intelligent awareness of the psychological and ethical ramifications of biological function in sexual phenomena, starting with the individual problem. Ultimately concerned with the reduction of categorical moralistic precepts which do much to foster ignorance in this sphere, the author addresses the parent-group through the subject of marriage, believing that better understanding there will have most direct reflection in wholesome attitudes imposed on the child.

The importance of sex as an integral and motivating part of life situations in regard to the individual, the family and society is presented in thirteen chapters.
