This work of some 112 pages first calls attention to the widespread occurrence of neurotic disturbances vaguely concealed behind the rationalization of ‘only nervous', and present in all fields of medicine. He would further state that many if not most of these, especially those he would set apart as related to hysteria, and the ‘nervous’ are capable of effective psychotherapy other than by the arduous practice of psychoanalysis.
