Notes and Comments

In response to requests and suggestions by numerous readers, a new department of NOTES AND COMMENTS is being initiated in the present issue. It is the hope of the Editors that the establishment of this department will encourage the submission of brief and lucid communications of various kinds: interpretive essays venturing fresh viewpoints, likely to stimulate discussion; queries calling for information or comment by interested readers; letters to the Editors on articles published in these pages or on matters of professional interest.

Materials intended for this department will be expected to meet all editorial requirements established for the Review. Responsibility for the selection is reserved to the Editors.

Comment on the present contents of the department is invited.
