Sexual Faces. Edited by Charlotte Schwartz and Martin A. Schulman. Madison, Conn: International Universities Press, 2002, 281 pp.

Review by:
Claire B. Steinberger, ED.D., JD

Sexual Faces is a compilation of exemplary essays by Freudian psychoanalysts who contribute turn-of-the-century “modern” perspectives on sexual orientation, gender identification, and object choice. As a whole, the book presents a collegial forum that explores the multiple “faces” of homosexual, bisexual, and heterosexual functioning. The range of theoretical views and clinical expositions tackle challenging issues in this continually evolving (and sometimes polarizing) area of inquiry (e.g., see JAPA, “Gender Issue,” 2005).
