Tip: To use Evernote for note taking…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

Evernote is a general note taking application that integrates with your browser. You can use it to save entire articles, bookmark articles, take notes, and more. It comes in both a free version which has limited synchronization capabilities, and also a subscription version, which raises that limit. You can download Evernote for your computer here. It can be used online, and there’s an app for it as well.

Some of the things you can do with Evernote:

  • Save search-result lists
  • Save complete articles
  • Save bookmarks to articles

The Mirror Dream

Charles Feigelson, M.D.

1. Clinical material of several patients who had mirror dreams is presented. Their preoccupation with loss and changed state of consciousness were experiential derivatives that stimulated the mirror imagery.

2. Mirror dreams are a clue to masturbatory practices in which mirrors are used.

3. The mirror dream represents a regressive partial reunion with the protective mother to allay guilt and reassure against object loss in response to aggression mobilized by an object conflict.

4. The mirror surface represents the narcissistic defense, whereas the object conflict is found beyond the surface in the mirror's depth.

5. A new mechanism of defense—duplication—is proposed.
