Play in Winnicott

Psychoanalysis provides the possibility or self-representing by means of the process of subjectivation. But this process needs the presence of another subject. According to Winnicott thanks her mirror function the mother becomes the primary other. Winnicott, establishes a comparison between mother-child relationship and psychoanalyst-patient relation- ship. One of the most important contributions of Winnicott to psychoanalytical thinking is the concept of playing. He defines psychoanalysis as a very special form of playing; the psychoanalyst and his patient are two persons who play together in a transitional area.
