Sándor Ferenczi

[Pápa, undated]1

Dear Professor,

I have, to be sure, succeeded in working out a two-and-a-half-day leave (8th to 10th of the month), but for the following reasons I preferred this time not to go to Vienna, but rather to Budapest: 1.) In the course of the month of May (toward the end), I want in any event to go to Vienna, since some “business” can be undertaken there. They are offering to sell me very cheaply two valuable old Dutch paintings (they belong to an aristocrat of my acquaintance). It is conceivable that this purchase will compensate for at least a part of my income which has been lost. But since leave is so infrequent, I want to combine the business trip to Vienna with a visit with you2 and to spend the present leave in Budapest. 2.)
